Leah’s Points to Ponder:

  • Fairness has little to do with happiness in marriage.
  • The persona that’s necessary in the corporate marketplace is best checked at the door for a thriving marriage.

Viewer Questions:

Q: How do women in today’s work environment make a doting wife a positive role model?

Leah: Doting wife does have a negative connotation, doesn’t it? Maybe adoring wife is better. Equality is so crucial in the workplace and it is worth fighting for. However, equality is the wrong measure for a home. In fact, it’s a recipe for disaster. The measure for a home is sholom (peace). Remember when you walk in the door to leave the equality mentality at the door, and put that effort into peace instead. Results are guaranteed.

Q: If I’m an alpha-style person and my husband is a milder, softer person, can we still make it work?

Leah: Absolutely! A woman can bring out the best in her husband, or she can bring out the worst. You choose! For a man, control is paramount. The more they lack it, the more they grab for it with disastrous results. Women think we need control, but what is actually far more important is connection. You can (and should!) express your opinion softly and gently, but the ultimate decision should be your husband’s. Your power lies in being an influencer. Giving him control will bring so much blessing into your home and he will seek your influence more and more. This is so hard to hear, and we’ll explore it further as we go along. Baby steps!

Try This at Home:

Try not to interrupt your husband while he is talking to you or to others.
