Points to Ponder:
- We all have areas we need to work on- both interpersonal and between ourselves and G-d.
- Being a whole, healthy person means refining our character traits and finding our purpose on this earth.
- When we work towards understanding and achieving our purpose, it helps us get through struggles.
- When we fight our weaknesses, we’re fighting against nature. When we lean in to our strengths, it trickles down to all areas.
Viewer Questions:
Can you give us three practical steps a person can take to start taking responsibility?
Step 1: Stop and think- stop working in the business, step back and work on the business. Stop working in the marriage, start working on the marriage. For some people stopping to think means praying or meditating, journaling, time out or even just creating a space to reflect.
Step 2: Identify our strengths and weaknesses. See which weaknesses can be turned into strengths.
Step 3: Lean in to our strengths and double down. Change is so hard but doubling down on strengths will have a ripple effect.
Shira: Working outside the house brings a lot of satisfaction and it’s valuable work, how can we manage to feel that same satisfaction when doing household chores?
If you’re alone, use this time to speak to G-d. If the family is around, make your family a unit and get them involved- evoke a feeling of teamwork. This brings satisfaction because you’re building your family unit.
What if you feel grouchy?
Feel your feelings in each moment, ride the emotions, and that’s okay.
Hannah: How does a wife make sure her husband doesn’t feel threatened by his wife being so successful?
In the house, let your husband be the star. Be careful not to steal his limelight. Give him his rightful place as king.
Penina: I have so many dreams and passions but never seem to get there. You seem to have really made it. Can you give us advice on how to finally actualize our dreams?
Choose one and start with that; too many are overwhelming. Speak it out, bring it into the world. If your dreams and moments continue to be a quiet moment, they won’t actualize. Tell people about it and then you’re more accountable to it.
Try This At Home: Take time out, make a list of your strengths and weaknesses and choose one thing to take on.
